Trax Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 2, 2026
Trax is made by Three Brothers Applications LLC, an Idaho limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what Trax collects, where it goes, and what you can do about it. We wrote it in plain language on purpose.
The short version
- Most of what you put into Trax stays on your iPhone.
- When you log food, talk to your Memory Bank, or say a set, the words are sent to our server and to Anthropic's AI (Claude) to turn them into numbers. That's how Trax works.
- Your Apple Health data stays on your iPhone. It is never sent to our server.
- We never sell your data. We never use it for ads. There are no ads in Trax and no ad or tracking tools.
- You can export or delete what Trax remembers at any time.
1. What stays on your iPhone
Trax saves these on your device:
- Your setup answers: name, sex, age, weight, height, goals, activity, training, foods you avoid, sleep and caffeine habits, and how you eat.
- Your daily targets (calories, protein, carbs, fat).
- Meals and foods you log, with amounts and nutrition numbers.
- Workouts, exercises and sets, your routine and goals.
- Your Memory Bank: things you've told Trax (sleep, energy, mood, caffeine, weigh-ins, groceries, notes) and your answers to the daily questions.
- Your settings.
This information is not uploaded to us or stored on our servers. If you delete the Trax app, it is deleted from your iPhone. (Data in Apple Health that Trax wrote stays in Apple Health until you delete it there; see section 4.)
2. What is sent to our server, and why
Trax uses AI to understand what you say. When you do one of the following, the information listed is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which passes it to Anthropic:
| When you... | What is sent |
|---|---|
| Log food (speak or type) | What you said or typed, the local time, short notes from your Memory Bank (such as saved portions, foods you avoid, and how you eat) so the estimates fit you |
| Talk to your Memory Bank | What you said or typed, a short profile summary (goal, daily targets, weight, training days, activities; not your name), Memory Bank notes, and a summary of the last two weeks of meals |
| Say a set during a workout | What you said, the workout and exercise names, and your last set |
| Ask for meals from "My grocery run" | Your grocery list from the Memory Bank, what you have left today, and foods you avoid |
We also send a random identifier for your copy of the app (Apple's "identifier for vendor"). We use it only to limit how many requests one phone can make, to keep the service fast and to stop abuse. It is not linked to your name, and Apple resets it if you delete the app.
Our server runs on Cloudflare. It forwards your request and sends the answer back. It does not save the content of your requests. Like any web service, Cloudflare keeps basic technical logs (such as the time of a request and whether it worked) for a limited time to keep the service running.
Anthropic (Claude) processes your request to produce the answer, under Anthropic's commercial terms. Those terms do not allow Anthropic to use your data to train its AI models. Anthropic may keep request data for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring, as described in its own privacy policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
USDA FoodData Central: for plain foods (like eggs or rice), our server looks up the food name in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's public nutrition database. Only a food description such as "Egg, whole, cooked, scrambled" is sent, nothing about you.
3. Apple services Trax uses
- Speech recognition. When you tap the mic, Apple's speech recognition turns your voice into text. On iPhones that support it, this happens on your device. Otherwise Apple may process the audio under Apple's privacy policy. Trax does not record or keep audio.
- Apple Maps. When you name a restaurant, Trax asks Apple Maps for the place's name and city to confirm it. Only the restaurant name and city you said are sent to Apple.
- Notifications. Reminders you turn on are scheduled on your iPhone. We don't send push notifications from a server.
4. Apple Health
If you connect Apple Health, Trax can:
- Read steps, active calories, flights climbed, exercise minutes, workouts (with distance and heart rate), weight, resting heart rate and sleep, to show them in Trax and bring outside workouts (like a bike ride from your watch) into your workout calendar.
- Write your logged meals (calories, protein, carbs, fat), workouts you finish in Trax, and weigh-ins, so Apple Health stays complete.
Apple Health data is used only inside the app on your iPhone. It is never sent to our server, never sent to Anthropic, never sold, never used for advertising or marketing, and never shared with anyone. You choose exactly which types Trax can read and write, and you can change that any time in the iPhone Settings app › Health › Data Access & Devices › Trax.
5. What we never do
- Sell or rent your data.
- Use your data, including health data, for advertising.
- Put ads, ad networks, or third-party tracking or analytics tools in Trax.
- Track you across other apps or websites.
6. Your choices and control
In Trax, under Settings › Memory and privacy, you can:
- See everything Trax remembers (it opens your Memory Bank). You can delete any single memory or meal.
- Export my data as a file with everything Trax has saved.
- Delete all memories.
- Turn off Keep learning, so Trax stops saving new memories from what you say.
You can also disconnect Apple Health in the iPhone Settings app, turn off any reminder, or delete the app to remove all Trax data from your iPhone.
Because we don't keep your Trax data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on our side beyond the short-term technical logs described above. If you have a question or request about your data, email us (section 10).
7. Children
Trax is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used Trax, contact us and we'll help.
8. Not medical advice
Trax helps you track food and workouts using your own information. Its estimates and suggestions come from your Memory Bank and AI, and AI can be wrong. Nothing in Trax is medical advice. Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before making medical or major diet decisions.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above, and for important changes we'll tell you in the app before they take effect. When Trax adds accounts (Sign in with Apple), paid plans or optional cloud backup, we'll update this policy first and explain what changes.
